Why Does Tire Pressure Drop?

Ever wonder why your tires get low on air pressure?

Most people don’t know that your car or truck tires can loose one PSI (Pound Per Square) per month under normal conditions. Tires can also lose 1 psi when they’re cold.

Driving heats up tires and makes reading the pressure incorrect. As a result, your tire pressure should be taken with less than 1 mile of driving.

To check your tire pressure:

Make sure you check tire pressure when tires are cold…or driven less than 1 mile.

  • Remove the valve cap.
  • Place the end of the tire gauge over valve stem.
  • Press the tire gauge straight and firmly until the digital gauge or indicator bar indicates a pressure reading.
  • If needed, add air and recheck pressure with the tire gauge.
  • Replace valve cap.
